Columbus Volunteer Challenge: The Premier Bicentennial Service Event

COLUMBUS VOLUNTEER CHALLENGE: THE PREMIER BICENTENNIAL SERVICE EVENT
Posted June 28, 2012

If you’ve wanted to give back by volunteering but just haven’t found the right time to begin, we have the perfect opportunity for you–the upcoming Columbus Volunteer Challenge, the premier bicentennial service event.

From Saturday, August 25 through Tuesday, September 11, the City of Columbus and United Way of Central Ohio, along with numerous community partners, will bring together as many as 20,000 caring community members to make a difference in central Ohio. Volunteers will have fun while working with and for community-minded neighbors and friends to help build a community that is more inspired, proud and engaged.

Columbus Volunteer Challenge Calendar

The challenge kicks off Saturday, August 25, with Family Day. This first-day event will be open to families, groups, individuals and volunteers from corporate and faith-based organizations. Some sites will welcome children ages 12 and older as volunteers.

From August 26 through September 10, the Days of Engagement will feature community volunteer projects, including opportunities to sign up for long-term volunteering such as mentoring and tutoring. Volunteer activities and opportunities taking place at nonprofit and faith-based organizations throughout the community will be listed on the Columbus Volunteer Challenge calendar at columbusvolunteerchallenge.org.

The event will culminate Tuesday, September 11 with United Way of Central Ohio’s traditional Community Care Day and National Day of Service. This final day is open to corporate volunteers, city employees, community volunteer groups and individuals to serve at nonprofit organizations throughout central Ohio. Gather your coworkers!

Join the caring power of our community and be a part of this unique and history making bicentennial event. Together, we can make central Ohio a better place for all of us! For additional information, contact info@columbusvolunteerchallenge.org or call 614.227.2700.
